Work Wherever: Yourgaff’s Guide to the Best Remote Working Hotspots to Boost your Productivity

Are your productivity levels dipping due to your working environment? Getting bored of staring at the same four walls of your house? Working from home can become lonely, monotonous and even counter productive…but we have the solution for you! Studies have shown that changing up your typical working environment can be super beneficial for your creativity and productivity. Therefore, the Yourgaff team have been trialling and testing multiple coffee shops, restaurants and bistros in Chester and the surrounding areas of the city to find the best spots to work remotely. With great coffee, fresh food and speedy Wi-Fi, the below venues are the perfect change of scenery to help keep your creative juices flowing…

We’re quite confident you will have heard of this one, but if you haven’t, Storyhouse is an amazing creative space located right in the city centre, with a library, cinema and theatre all under it’s roof! Storyhouse offers something for everyone, providing activities and events, often for FREE, to people of all ages and walks of life…there’s always an atmospheric buzz about the place! Despite the hustle and bustle, the library is a great space to work from. Featuring lots of single study spaces with charging ports a-plenty and free access to their Wi-Fi, it’s a popular spot for the remote worker or university student. Side note: you have to try the halloumi fries from their in-house restaurant ‘The Kitchen’…they are MEGA!

If you’re looking for somewhere to work from with chilled vibes, casual dining and incredible coffees (specifically iced), then Poco is the place for you! Situated in the eclectic village of Hoole, it’s nestled nicely amongst the other independent restaurants, cafes, shops and boutiques on Faulkner Street, making it a perfect place to visit if you want a change of scenery from the city centre. They specialise in small plates, pinchos and nibbles inspired by both Spain and Italy…and my god are they delicious! Owners Adam and Rhea recognise that working from home can sometimes feel lonely, so they’ve created the perfect ’WFH Deal’ for all you remote workers out there - x2 pinchos and unlimited tea/coffee for just £10.00 per person, valid 12-3pm every Friday. What an amazing way to finish off your working week and start off your weekend?

The Naughty Badger Bistro

You’ve heard of ‘Follow the yellow brick road’, right? Well how about ‘Follow the white badger paw prints’? Tucked away on the historic Rows of Bridge Street, you’ll find The Naughty Badger Bistro, guided by a trail of prints that lead you to this hidden gem. It’s a quaint, cosy haven that serves freshly cooked food in a relaxed environment, making it a great space to work from. Offering a ‘Coffee and Co-working deal’ Monday-Friday, owners Andy and Teana have thought of everything - at just £15.00 for 2 hours, you can indulge in unlimited tea/coffee, a choice of bacon sandwich/danish pastries/avocado on toast and access to their Wi-Fi (which we found to be super speedy and reliable btw). Be sure to book your slot to avoid disappointment!

North Light

This gorgeous bar and restaurant is the latest edition to Chester’s hospitality industry. North Light opened it’s doors in early May this year, inspired by the creativity of the city’s community and it’s extensive history which is beautifully reflected by it’s rich interior. There is a unique concept behind the making of this venue…it’s more than just a bar and restaurant! North Light is also a platform for local artists, performers and emerging talent to showcase their work, whether that be through music or art. This makes it the perfect environment to get those creative juices flowing! With a great choice of seating from high tables to a cosy sofa corner, you can take a relaxed approach to your working day and maybe even treat yourself to a spot of brunch whilst you’re at it…we highly recommend the avo toast!
